Butterflies

For Jamie's birthday, his Pops and Mimi, got him a Caterpillar garden. The package arrived with two glass cups and each cup had five little caterpillars in them. The caterpillars stayed in the glass cups for about a week and then created their cocoon's. Once they were in their cocoons, Jeremy carefully removed them from the glasses and put them into the mesh caterpillar cage. They stayed in their cocoons for ten days and then we got up one morning and there were three beautiful butterflies in the cage! After all of them became butterflies we kept them one more day and fed them (sugar water on cotton balls) and then we released them in our backyard. The kids loved seeing the caterpillar change into a butterfly!

Jordan was so excited to see little caterpillars moving in the glasses. We had to put the glasses up high because she would grab them and then roll them on the floor and giggle. I was afraid the caterpillars were going to get motion sickness!

Jamie was very good with the caterpillars and enjoyed looking at them every day.

Getting ready to release the butterflies in the backyard.

The butterflies were so calm, Jeremy could actually hold them! It was very cool!

Summer....summer....summertime!

We always play this song (Summertime by DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince) over Memorial Day weekend to bring in the wonderful, long. lazy, and hot days of summer! This summer Jamie will be in a preschool summer camp and sports class but in between we'll be playing on the slip in slide and spending lots of evenings at Nani and Poppi's having BBQ's and swimming in the pool. Here's to a great summer break!
The kids figuring out what the slip in slide is.
Jamie loves going on it. Jordan likes to lay on her tummy, feet first, and likes to be pulled by her legs down it. I have it on video but was not able to upload it to the blog. :(
Every night we spend time in our backyard listening to our waterfall and being memorized by the tiki torches in the backyard. Jeremy knows Kauai, Hawaii, is my favorite place in the world so he's done a very good job with trying to create a mini- Kauai landscape in our backyard. Jordan is even learning how to use the Ukulele so she can play me Hawaiian music.
